In October 2009, Rev. Oleg Volkov and Chaplain Igor Krutogolov visited churches in the USA. Over the past several years many American churches have supported the Prison Ministry, which we call “Kappelan” which is Russian for Chaplain. The main goal of the trip was to share with our brotherly churches what has been done in the Prison Ministry for the past years. We made a DVD in which we told about the Prison Ministry and also showed what we had accomplished in this ministry because of the sacrificial help of our brothers and sisters from the States.
During 30 days of our trip in the States, we visited 7 churches:
Christ Church, Cary, NC;
Trinity Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, GA;
McIlwain Presbyterian Church, Pensacola, FL;
Trinity Presbyterian Church, Valparaiso, FL;
The 1st Methodist Church, Niceville, FL;
First Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church, Louisville, MS;
Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sulfur, LA;
Grace Covenant Church, Nacogdoches, TX.
Also we participated in the meetings of Augustine Presbytery and Athanasius Presbytery of the CREC.
Wherever we went we always met joyful hospitality, and felt the goodness and love of our brothers and sisters in the United States. The Lord gave us a unique possibility to thank in person all the people who support our ministry, to testify of what has already been accomplished, and describe our goals for the future development of this ministry.
During our trip, many brothers and sisters expressed their desire to continue to support our ministry to the prisoners in Russia. This ministry can be rightly considered international because on the one side we minister among people of different cultures, languages and even citizenships. On the other side we minister together with our brothers and sisters from the United States of America serving with our different gifts for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is our great wish that we can finish construction of our halfway house for ex-prisoners during the coming year. The generosity of the American churches and many of their individual members we visited on this trip has gone a long way to help us reach the financial goals we set.
